SiSiB® PC5423

Ethyl Polysilcate 32.
Synonym: Ethyl Silicate 32

Chemical Structure

Introduction

Silicon esters are silicon compounds that contain an oxygen bridge from silicon to an organic group, for example, Si-OR. SiSiB® PC5423 is a hydrolyzed and oligomerized form of ethyl silicate. It is a mixture of monomers, dimers, trimers and cyclic polysiloxanes. SiSiB® PC5423 is a transparent liquid containing 32% silica (SiO2) by mass, but in practice, in addition to chain condensates, it also contains branch-shaped and ring-shaped condensates.

Applications

The tetraalkyl orthosilicates ( also called orthosilicic acid esters) most commonly used as starting materials for sol-gel.

Polysilicic acidesters are condensation products obtained by incomplete hydrolysis or orthosilicic acid esters. They are also be used as starting materials for the sol-gel process.

SiSiB® PC5423 typical application:

Used as a component in parting paints and binder for mold cores exposed to high temperature in foundry and metal manufacture;

Used for shrink-proof finish of woolen cloth, shrinkage abatement of carpeting articles to impart dust and decay resistance, impregnation of filter cloth in textile industry;

Used for manufacture of hydrophobic materials of construction, treatment of painted surfaces, impregnation of concrete to reduce the porosity , manufacture of silicosilicate and acid-proof cement in building industry;

Used for application of antireflection coatings, application of the light-diffusing layer to electric light bulbs, a binding agent for ceramic mixtures with high mechanical strength, thermal stability, and dielectric properties, which are resistant to strongly corrosive mediums to manufacture high refractory materials withstanding temperature about 1750ºC and a load of above 127 kg/cm2 in the glass industry and production of ceramic materials;

Used as an additive to obtain quick-drying , thermostable, and water-resistant films with durable gloss in the paint and varnish industry.
